Today’s tips: A perfect app for the Camino is “Maps.me”. It’s always working perfectly, even without an internet connection and is free.

La tappa di oggi non ha difficoltà, ma solo un problema di servizi. Non si trova un solo bar in tutto il percorso, solo un paio di distributori automatici di bibite, ma proprio perché automatici, non si può esser sicuri del loro funzionamento. Bisogna partire con cibo e acqua a sufficienza per l’intera tappa.

Today’s route is not challenging, but it only has a problem with services. We couldn’t find even a single bar along the entire walk, only few automatic drink machines, but as they are automatic, you can’t make sure they will always be working. You need to start the walk in the morning with food and enough water for the entire path.

È una giornata solitaria, in cui si cammina tra boschi, campi, piccoli paesi senza segni di vita, fattorie.

It’s a solitary day today, walking in the woods, fields, tiny villages without any sign of life.

Il sentiero è un continuo, dolce saliscendi, apparentemente senza fine, quando improvvisamente si scorge Lugo all’orizzonte: una striscia continua di palazzoni moderni abbarbicati sulla roccia su cui è stata costruita Lugo. Purtroppo ci si rende subito conto che la città è ancora molto lontana e la gincana che esegue il Cammino, per evitare varie superstrade, autostrade e ferrovie, è interminabile.

The path is a gentle up and down, almost as if it never had an end, up until we suddenly spotted Lugo on the horizon: a continuous line of big modern blocks all perched on the rock where Lugo has been built. Unfortunately at that point we realized that the city is still very far away, and the long, long path of the Camino to Lugo, avoiding highways and railways, really feels never-ending.

L’ingresso a Lugo è su una strada ripida, con curve e scale che possono sfiancare anche i fisici più atletici. Si entra nel centro storico attraverso le antiche mura romane che circondano la città e perfettamente conservate.

The entrance into Lugo is on a really steep road, with curves and stairs that can put to test even the most fit bodies. We entered the historical center through ancient Roman walls surrounding the city and perfectly maintained.

Fortunatamente ci aspetta il bell’albergo Nunez Mendez con affaccio su una bella via di passeggio. Dopo il riposo di rito, abbiamo visitato la città, coi suoi bei palazzi e la bella Cattedrale. Le mura sono interamente percorribili e danno la possibilità di osservare la città dall’alto.

Luckily, waiting for us there is the beautiful hotel Nunez Mendez overlooking a nice pedestrian street. After we spent some time resting, we went sightseeing around Lugo, a town with beautiful buildings and a beautiful cathedral. The walls around the city can all be walked and can allow to view the town from above.

La cena a base di polpo ha fatto da piacevole coronamento ad una bella giornata.

The octopus-based dinner put a nice end to the beautiful day.
